MMET is the largest forum of this sort in the Former Soviet Union (FSU). It is famous as efficient interface between the FSU and Western scientists and engineers in the broad area of modeling and simulation of electromagnetic fields including wave propagation, radiation, scattering, guidance, processing, etc. - see www.mmet.org and informal reports of participants in IEEE AP Magazine: #2-1992, #5-1995, #6-1996, ##4,5-1998, #3-2001, #2-2003, #3-2005.pdf, and #3-2007. Characteristic feature of MMET is a stronger emphasis on the analytical and mathematical aspects of research into electromagnetics. The program consists of only oral presentations (invited and session ones), and English is single working language.
Organizers: IEEE AP/MTT/ED/AES/GRS/NPS/EMB East Ukraine Joint Chapter, in cooperation with the Institute of Radio-Physics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IRE NASU), Ukrainian NC URSI, Odesa National Academy of Telecommunications (ONAT), IEEE LEO-S Ukraine Chapter, URSI, and IEEE APS, MTTS and EDS. Chairman of the Organizing Committee: Prof. Eldar I. Veliev, IRE NASU, Ukraine. Chairman of the Technical Program Committee: Prof. Alexander I. Nosich, IRE NASU, Ukraine Local Organization Coordinator: Prof. Mikhail B. Protsenko, ONAT Address for inquiries: MMET*08, c/o Dept. of Computational Electromagnetics, IRE NASU, ul. Proskury 12, Kharkiv 61085 , Ukraine. Tel: +380-57-720-3782, +380-57-720-3442 (MMET*08 Secretary), Fax: +380-57-315-2105, E-mail: mmet@mmet.org. Venue: The MMET*08 conference will be held in the main building of the Odesa National Academy of Telecommunications, ul. Kuznechnaya 1, Odesa. Odesa is a one-million city on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine and the largest Ukrainian harbor. City’s first governor was Duke Richelieu, nephew of the famous France’s Cardinal and now a popular symbol. By WW I, Odesa was the third largest city in the Russian Empire, thanks to the wheat trade. Today it hosts several major universities and a number of important research laboratories. Rich social program is expected thanks to the Black Sea opportunities including boat voyage and wine-testing at the National Center for Winemaking Research. June weather is usually warm and sunny in Southern Ukraine. Important dates: Final 3-page camera ready papers are expected by April 20, 2008 April 27, 2008. No entry visa will be required for the citizens of EU, Switzerland, Norway, USA, Canada and Japan.
